The Honeymoon

For our honeymoon, we flew down to the Smokey Mountains Monday morning and spent the week in a cabin just outside Pigeon Forge.

The first photo-worthy moment was seeing Matt's rental car for the week: a C-Max Hybrid. This vehicle kept us entertained all week when the scenery wasn't enough.

We spent our Tuesday walking through the shops in Gatlinberg. Sitting on top of this five-ton floating granite ball was no small feat.

We ate at the Bullfish Grill for our meal from Grandma. The wait was pretty long so we found a nice couple to take our picture.

Wednesday was hiking day, and also one of the colder days of our trip. We hiked up to the top of Chimney Tops trail.

It got a little steep and rocky toward the end.

Those are the Chimney tops!
That night we went to the Dixie Stampede. On Thursday, we went to Wonderworks and spent most of our day there.

We found this oddly labeled light switch in our cabin to be quite useful.

Frying up our breakfast!
Thursday night we walked down by the river and then rode on the Ferris Wheel. We got a good deal on night/day passes, so we came back Friday morning and rode it again.

We rode the country's tallest Ferris Wheel! (According to the guy running it?)
After that, we went to the Titanic Museum and then packed up to go home Saturday.

The cabin and C-Max before our departure
We took the scenic route through the mountains to get back to the airport and then flew back to Moline and stayed in a hotel that night again.
Flying home Saturday night
Our tastefully decorated kitchen upon our return home Sunday afternoon.
Someone brought our mattress over and made the bed for us....a very kind thing to do. Except they never learned how to make a bed because the sheets were folded wrong underneath and we couldn't fit our legs in all the way.
...and after two more days off work to get things settled, cleaned, and put away, we ended the wedding planning stage of life and began to settle into our new routines. :)

We Have This Moment Today

God is so good! We are thankful for His rich blessings during our first month of marriage and look forward to what He has in store for our lives together.

Below are several of our wedding pictures compiled into a video to avoid a very lengthy post. Photography courtesy of Heidi S. Photo quality is much better in real life, my apologies.

(Song from We Have This Moment Today CD)

"We have this moment to hold in our hands and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand. Yesterday's gone and tomorrow many never come, but we have this moment today..."
